Our program is to personally greet your group at
your apartment, hotel or at the Riga pier. Arriving
by train, plane or bus, no problem, we will meet you there!
This 4 to 6 hour privately
and professionally guided tour will be especially created for
you and your comfort. Walk; ride or both. See what you like and
of course we will suggest and provide options for you to choose.
For example, we might
suggest that we proceed by vehicle entering the Old City and stop a few places for
photos and discussion. The time in the old city may be from a
few minutes to several hours based on what and how much you want
to see and discuss. There are a
lot of options, we want to show you the types of areas and
sights that you are interested in seeing. Our guide will discuss
options with you along the way and adjust the tour to create a
delightful experience for you ! On completion of the Old City, we will continue by vehicle and proceed with the guided tour around the city center and visit the
historic Art Nouveau
buildings on Elizabetes and Alberta
streets. From here, we will cross the Daugava River and provide a
marvelous view of the
Old City from the West bank of the river. Continuing on through the
streets
of City Center our guide will point out various special locations
including: The Latvian Art Museum; Congress Meeting hall; Riga
City Hall; embassies and the wonderful
parks and canal in the Center of Riga. We
will also pass the Freedom
Monument and the historic Riga
Opera House along the way. Our vehicle will stop near the
Opera House and Riga Hotel where you will disembark.
With our guide, we will
walk through the Old City stopping in several places for
photos and discussion. One of the most famous places is historic
Domes Square home of the 800 year old Domes
Church with the worlds' second largest pipe organ. Also,
Domes Square is the home to the annual Christmas
Market. The first documented use of an evergreen tree in a
Christmas celebration was in Riga
in the year 1510.
We will also stop at St.
Peters Church another ICON of Riga's famous skyline.
We will proceed through the
cobblestone
streets of the old city for about 45 minutes to one
hour meeting up with the minibus again on the river
side of the Old City near Riga Castle.
On completion of the Old City part of the tour, we will continue by minibus and proceed
across the Daugava River to provide a marvelous view of the
Old City from the West bank of the river.
This provides for an excellent photo opportunity of the city and its
historic landmarks.
We will then head south
along the river and past an Historic Russian
Orthodox Church for the short drive to the LIDO
Krasta Centers. If you like, we will point out some of the new housing districts of the city
and visit places like the Open Door Ethnographic Museum East of
Downtown Riga Center.
Or, we will proceed to the
LIDO Krasta Recreation Center where as an
option, you may have lunch or dinner or just stroll
around the grounds. Our guide will point out the specifics of the restaurant and where
food and beverages are served. If you like, we will
provide prepaid vehicle coupons for the return trip to the center
or for a later visit to the LIDO Krasta center.
We can also point out some of the new housing districts of the city
along the way. You will get a sense of Riga's
Daily life!
